The Sparkman and Stephens designed Hughes 26 is a reasonably large 26 footer with some real sea-going capabilities. It has a fine bow and a noticeable tumblehome in its hull (the mid-section of the upper part of the hull curves in where it meets the deck). It was originally introduced as the Northstar 26, and later marketed as the Hughes 26. The Northstar verison has a dinette arrangement and no enclosed head (the toilet was located under the port v-berth in the forward cabin). At first, the Hughes 26 had the same interior as the Northstar, but its layout was eventually updated to include an enclosed head (and it was known for a while as the Hughes 26E). Some of the boats with updated interiors have a dinette while others come with two settees parallel to the centerline. Like most Hughes models, this boat tends to come on the used market at an affordable price.
