The Lac Deschenes Sailing Club is a well established club that has been around
since 1967. It is a low cost volunteer organization which prides itself on maintaining a low key cottage-like atmosphere.
The Lac Deschenes Sailing Club caters primarily to dinghies and small catamarans, although it does have some
swing moorings which are used for small trailerable keelboats. Most people at LDSC have
their own boats, but for a small annual fee, members can make use of club-owned boats. Facilities include a clubhouse, beach, as well as swimming and
picnic areas. Services include complete racing, training, and junior programs.

It is worth noting that
LDSC absorbed the neighbouring Shirley's Bay Sailing Club in 1994. This club was forced to close when the National Capital Commission imposed a major rent
increase. (The empty cottage which served as clubhouse for the Shirley's Bay Sailing Club was later destroyed by fire.)
